About the session

"I'm fine" is the most common answer at work, and often not the true one. Asking twice, and meaning it, can open a conversation that really matters.

This session gives people the confidence to have that conversation. It covers the signs that a colleague might be struggling, how to start the conversation, how to listen without trying to fix everything, what not to say, and how to point someone towards the right support.

Teams practise with short scenarios in their breakout rooms, with their host guiding them. Nobody is asked to share their own experiences. It isn't counsellor training: it's about being a good colleague and knowing where your role ends and professional support begins.

Questions

What's different in the 60-minute version?

The 60-minute version has one practice scenario instead of two and a shorter section on signposting.

Who leads the session?

A host experienced in workplace wellbeing. It complements training such as Mental Health First Aid but isn't a replacement for it.

Will people have to role-play?

Only if they want to. Teams can talk through the scenarios instead.

Can you include our own support services?

Yes. Tell us about your employee assistance programme or wellbeing champions when we confirm the details and we'll include them.

What if the session brings something up for someone?

Our hosts keep things practical and never ask anyone to share personal experiences. Every session ends with where to find support, including your own employee assistance programme if you have one, and organisations such as Mind and Samaritans.

How does a hosted virtual game work?

Everyone joins your usual video call. We split the group into teams of up to 10, each in its own breakout room with a dedicated host who shares the game on screen and types in the answers the team agrees on. A live leaderboard keeps the competition going.

How far ahead do we need to book?

At least 48 hours ahead, Monday to Friday. Same-day sessions are sometimes possible on request: book as usual and we will confirm as quickly as we can.

Is there a minimum or maximum group size?

There is no maximum. The minimum booking is £150 + VAT, so groups under 13 people pay the minimum.
